Aero Club, Inc.Founded in 1941, the Civil Air Patrol is a 57,000 member volunteer organization, and is the official Auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Patrol Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Timothy Neely received his official
appointment to the United States Air Force Academy in a ceremony held at
Butler Composite Squadron 712 headquarters at the Butler County Airport.
Lt. Colonel Richard Conwell, the USAFA Liaison Officer presided.
Cadet Neely, a resident of Zelienople, joined the Civil Air Patrol in
November, 2006. Most notable among his achievements are:
Billy Mitchell Award (cadet officer), CAP Solo Pilot Rating, Ground Team
Member Level 3, Cadet Basic Encampment and Cadet Executive Officer.
Cadet Neely was also a member of the Army JROTC program at Seneca Valley
High School.
Departing for the USAF Academy in mid-June, Cadet Neely says, "Civil Air
Patrol played a big part in achieving my goal to attend the Air Force
Academy." The members of Squadron 712 Butler, Group 1
(southwestern PA) and all of the Civil Air Patrol are proud of Cadet
Neely's achievement, and wish him the best for his future in the United
States Air Force.
